Greetings and welcome to Georgia Studies!
Georgia Studies is a class where geography, economics,
history, and politics come together to give students a broad
view of the Peach State. C.A. Gray
Junior High School is located in beautiful and
historic Moultrie, GA.
Moultrie is located in Colquitt
County, which is named after Walter
Terry Colquitt, a former U.S. Senator. Colquitt County
is home to current United States Senator Saxby
Chambliss. We are also home to the Colquitt County
Packers, state champions in football (1994) and baseball
(1997).

My name is Nick Chastain and I am
originally from Tallahassee, Florida. This is my first
year teaching Georgia Studies, and I absolutely love it!
I spent eight long years as an Internet sales manager at
a car dealership. Although I value the experience,
education, and relationships that I acquired during this
time, I finally feel like I have found my calling in
life... teaching. When I am not at school, I love to
travel (we recently got back from Washington D.C.),
fish, hunt, golf, BBQ, watch
Florida State football, and cut grass. I have been
married to the love of my life almost ten years, and we
have two beautiful dogs. Tucker is an old English
Bulldog and Lucy is a Cocker Spaniel. When I am
barbequing, I am a complete Egghead! I have
two big green eggs that I can cook just about anything
on... from Boston butt, whole turkeys, steaks,... even
pizza!

Georgia Studies is a course all
eighth grade students must take. Although this is my
first year teaching it, my co-teacher Ms.
Lori Myers has been teaching this class for eight
years. My undergraduate degree is in Political Science
with an emphasis on Public Administration. Between the
two of us, we have a wealth of information that should
make this one of your favorite classes this year! Our
lessons are designed to be fun, fast paced, and above
all educational. Many of the standards we teach are
covered in video form here.
Lori and I work well together, and we are both
available before school, during lunch, or after school
to ensure that all of our students are completely
comfortable with the content of this course.
